Comfortably And Conveniently Straightening Your Smile

In addition to their often dissatisfying appearance, crooked teeth can lead to a variety of oral health problems, including the buildup of plaque on the teeth. More and more people are choosing Invisalign®—a system of clear aligners (trays)—to straighten their teeth due to its many benefits over traditional wire braces. At Stewart Dental Group, our dentists are experts in treating a wide range of patients and conditions with this clear aligner system.

Benefits Of Invisalign®

Clear aligners are an attractive option for patients looking to align their teeth—and for good reason. Invisalign® uses a system of clear aligners to gradually align the smile. Patients wear their aligners for about two weeks at a time before switching to new ones. Each new tray gradually shifts the teeth toward proper alignment, and with very few monitoring visits needed at our office, it is no wonder so many patients choose this clear aligner system.

Dr. Stewart Is A Gold Plus Invisalign® Provider

Expert Invisalign® Care In Charlotte, NC

Dr. Melissa Stewart holds the distinction of being a Gold Plus Invisalign® Provider, which means she has advanced education and extensive expertise in working with Invisalign®. Making the decision to select a Gold Plus Invisalign® provider such as Dr. Stewart from Stewart Dental Group means that you are receiving expert and recognized dental care.

Additional Benefits of Invisalign®

Unlike traditional wire braces, which are almost impossible to conceal while wearing, the aligners are virtually invisible. You can now smile with confidence, even during your treatment!

Made of smooth and durable materials, aligners lack the bulkiness of wires and brackets. This completely eliminates the discomfort of poking wires that come with braces. Additionally, most patients report only slight discomfort for a couple days after switching out their trays, unlike the pain patients often experience after an adjustment with braces.

Though you will need to wear your aligners for around 20-22 hours a day, you can remove them while eating. This prevents the buildup of food particles in the mouth which can lead to plaque. It also leaves you feeling clean and refreshed, and allows you to continue eating your favorite foods.

Each aligner is customized to fit your smile and your treatment goals, propelling you toward your desired results.

Our dentists use digital scanning technology that allows them to predict and envision every step of your treatment with computer-assisted planning.

Clear aligners are truly a no-hassle treatment option. When it’s time to clean your trays, simply clean your aligners with a clean toothbrush, water or hydrogen peroxide. We recommend that patients brush their aligners with toothpaste and a toothbrush every morning and night. Always brush and floss your teeth to clean your mouth thoroughly before replacing your aligners.

Invisalign® uses a system of clear aligners to gradually straighten the teeth, align the jaw and bite and produce a more symmetrical face shape.

How Invisalign® Works

Your aligners are custom made to fit your smile. To create your aligners, our dentists take X-rays and impressions of your teeth.

When Invisalign® has all the information needed from our dentists, they can start making your trays. A few weeks later, your trays will arrive, and—after ensuring that they fit correctly and that you feel comfortable in them—treatment can begin. Each tray will incrementally move your teeth to achieve the desired goal.

Because your treatment is tailored so specifically to your smile and your goals, most patients spend less time in Invisalign® than in braces. To maximize effectiveness, it is important to wear your aligners as instructed by your dentist.

While this clear aligner system requires less time in our office than other treatments, you will still need to visit us every few months so that our dentists can monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments.

Melissa Stewart is the best of the best! I have been going to her since we moved to Charlotte 8 years ago and I’m so thankful for her! She is professional and kind and so thorough. I had so much anxiety about going to the dentist after years of putting it off, but she made me feel so comfortable and cared for. I’m also doing Invisalign with her and it’s been a great process. I highly recommend her!

Invisalign® FAQs

You may experience some discomfort when you first switch to your new set of aligners. This is normal! The pain should dissipate within a day or two and can be managed with pain medication, if necessary.

Clear aligner treatment is typically shorter than that of traditional braces treatment. Patients can spend as little as 6 months to 18 months in aligners, depending on the severity of the case.

This system of clear aligners can be just as effective as traditional braces for many orthodontic issues. However, its success largely depends on the patient’s compliance with wearing the aligners. For best results, follow Dr. Stewart’s instructions for wearing your aligners as closely as possible.

Clear aligners are suitable for many people, but they may not be the best option for complex orthodontic issues. To determine if this treatment is right for you, request an appointment with Dr. Stewart.

Some dental insurance plans may cover Invisalign® treatment, but coverage varies. We can help you connect with your insurance provider to see if it is something that your plan covers. You can also visit our Patient Info page for information about our payment options.
